DJ FAQ's

What is your lighting like?
-We use LED lighting which takes very little energy and puts out very little heat. You won't burn up from the hot lights as you might from traditional stage lighting. Our lights change colors with the music to create a nice ambiance but we do not use club or party lighting such as strobes, lasers, and fog machines.

How would you describe your DJ style?
-Most couples that sit down with us say something like "we were at our cousins wedding last week and the DJ wouldn't shut up!" With that in mind, we consider ourselves more as facilitators than we do entertainers. Your guests are there to have a good time and not listen to the DJ all night. We'll facilitate all the events you want (grand march, 1st dances, bouquet/garter tosses, cake cutting) and none of the ones you don't. Unless there's an announcement that needs to be made or one of the above events taking place, we let good music decisions do the talking for us. In our experience, if guests don't want to dance, nothing we do or say will change that. And if they DO want to dance, they will love the music choices we make!

What about tipping?
--As with any service industry, tipping is encouraged but certainly not required. Your wedding vendors are with you all day and help create life-long memories. One industry article explained it this way…"if you tip a server for bringing you a meal, why wouldn't you tip the vendors bringing you the best day of your life…" Some people ask what a normal tip is. There's no right or wrong answer. Some websites state specific amounts while others state percentages. The point isn't the amount but rather the relationship between couple & DJ and that each couple feels like they WANT to show gratitude in that way by the end of the day.

How long does it take you to set up and tear down?
-We typically arrive 1 hour before guest arrival to load in and set up. Music begins playing when 1st guests begin arriving. At the end of the night, it'll take approximately 45 minutes to tear down and load out.

How does the ceremony sound system add-on work?
-Studio Veil offers a sound system add-on for the ceremony if needed. We arrive 60-90 minutes before the ceremony to load in and set up. Two handheld wireless microphones are available for the officiant, wedding couple, musicians, and readers to use. Musicians may also plug into our sound board but they must provide their own cables to go from the instrument to the sound board. Studio Veil will also play any requested music throughout ceremony. There will be a little down time between the ceremony & reception as the DJ moves equipment before dinner/cocktail music begins at the reception.

Any hidden fees?
-There are no hidden fees with any Studio Veil services. The only things not included in the pricing is sales tax and gratuity.

Can I help pick the music?
-ABSOLUTELY! It's your wedding, not ours. Some couples leave it all up to us and other couples pick every son we play. Most fall somewhere in the middle which is what we prefer so that we can use our experience as well as guest requests to play music that your guests will enjoy.
